The identity of the woman who died following an accident involving a train in Jacksonville has been released by authorities.
Guillmerina Vera Perez Cause Of Death
Guillmerina Vera Perez, 65, of Jacksonville was struck by a train on the Union Pacific rail line, west of US 69, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a police statement, Perez was walking eastbound on the tracks at about 12:50 p.m. when she was struck by the train. The train engineer sounded the horn multiple times, but Perez either ignored or did not hear the warning.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, but it appears to be a tragic accident.
