A 16-year-old student at Tuloso Midway High School was accidentally shot and killed on Friday evening. Deandrea Anissa Valdez was pronounced dead after the shooting incident, which occurred at a home on the 100 block of Hardwood Street in Annaville, Texas, near the school.

According to reports, Valdez was playing with a real gun when it discharged. Two 17-year-old students, who have not been publicly identified, have been arrested and questioned by authorities in connection with the incident.

The Tuloso Midway High School community is reeling from the loss of Valdez, who was known for her unique personality and warm spirit. A GoFundMe page has been established to support her family in their preparations for her burial.

“Deandrea was a loving daughter, sister, and friend,” her sister, Priscilla Valdez, wrote on the GoFundMe page. “She was always smiling and laughing, and she brought joy to everyone who knew her. We are heartbroken by her loss, and we ask for your prayers and support during this difficult time.”

A memorial service will be held in Valdez’s honor at the Pavilion in West Guth Park on Saturday evening at 7pm. The family is expected to release information about Valdez’s obituary and funeral arrangements in the coming days.

The Tuloso Midway High School community is offering counseling services to students and staff who are struggling to cope with the loss of Valdez. The school district has also released a statement expressing its condolences to the Valdez family and the entire school community.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our student, Deandrea Valdez,” the statement read. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
