Young Hockey Player Dies in Tragic Accident
Lincoln Walsh, a 13-year-old hockey player from Holyrood, Newfoundland and Labrador, died on October 16, 2023, after a tragic accident while using a zip line in a friend’s backyard. The zip line snapped, causing him to fall to the ground. He was immediately rushed to the Janeway Kids Hospital in St. John’s, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries, including a severe brain injury.
Walsh was a dedicated student at Holy Cross Junior High School and a member of the CBR Renegades Peewee A hockey team. He was known for his exceptional skills, sportsmanship, and unwavering leadership. His teammates, coaches, teachers, and friends are all deeply saddened by his passing.
A funeral service was held for Walsh on October 21, 2023, at Holy Cross Church in Holyrood. He was laid to rest in the Holy Cross Graveyard.
Walsh’s death is a reminder of the importance of safety when using zip lines and other recreational equipment. It is also a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing our loved ones.
