North Haven, CT – Santino Antonio DeDona, a beloved member of the North Haven community, has passed away at the age of 47. Santino, known as San, lost his battle with illness on October 13, 2023, at Harbor Village in New London.

Born on May 13, 1976, San was the son of Antonio and Iva DeDona and held a special place in their hearts. He was also the adopted grandson of the late Gordon and Janice Hazen and the late Armando and Theresa DeDona. Frank DeDona and Deborah Venetianer had the honor of being his godparents.

San’s life was marked by adventure and service to his country. For four years, he traversed the globe as a U.S. Coast Guardsman aboard the Barque Eagle. His deep love for the ocean led him to explore countries like Australia, Italy, Germany, and London, leaving a trail of cherished memories. He adored animals, but his faithful companion, Monty, held a special place in his heart. San’s passion for sports mirrored his father’s, and he avidly followed the New York Yankees and New York Jets.

San’s professional journey led him to the bustling streets of New York City, where he worked as a dedicated project manager. Described as a dynamic individual who always stood by those in need, he was known for his unwavering support and thoughtfulness. He never forgot to bring flowers to his mother and tickets to a Jets or Yankees game for his father.

Santino DeDona’s life was tragically cut short, leaving behind numerous dreams and aspirations. His 47 years among us were a blessing, and his passing casts a shadow over the sky.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Harbor Village for their exceptional care and kindness during the past four years. They are also deeply appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from dear friends during this challenging time.
