Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has been granted a restraining order against a woman who claims he is the father of her child.

The woman, Ambar Hunter, has been harassing Chase and his mother, Toeleah Chase, for months, according to court documents. She has allegedly posted photos of a child on social media and claimed that the child is Chase’s, although he has denied paternity.

Chase has described the harassment as “unhinged” and “disturbing.” He says that Hunter has threatened to destroy his brand and endorsement deals, and that she has even called his mother a “witch.”

A judge in Los Angeles County granted a temporary restraining order on Tuesday, barring Hunter from contacting Chase or his mother. A hearing on whether the restraining order will become permanent is scheduled for September 7.

Chase’s attorney, Jason Lampert, said in a statement that his client “has exhausted every out-of-court remedy” and that he is “taking this step to protect himself and his family from this unwarranted harassment.”
