An elderly woman and her son were found dead in their Wichita home on Friday morning in what police believe was a murder-suicide.
Margaret O’Neil, 80, was found shot multiple times in the kitchen of her home in the 4800 block of North Portwest. Her son, Michael O’Neil, 57, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police were called to the home around 6:30 a.m. after a friend reported that Margaret O’Neil had not been answering the door. When officers arrived, they saw the woman’s body through a window and forced their way into the home.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, but police believe that Michael O’Neil shot his mother before turning the gun on himself.
