Florida Teacher Arrested for Sending Inappropriate Messages to Middle School Student

A Florida teacher has been arrested for sending inappropriate messages to a 14-year-old student over several months.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about the teacher’s behavior, and detectives were granted permission to search the student’s computer. They found thousands of messages between the teacher, George Beall, and the student.

The messages were sent constantly over several months, and the sheriff’s office described Beall’s behavior as “consistent with predatory behavior.”

The victim, a student at Powell Middle School, where Beall taught, said that the conversations were uncomfortable due to the age difference and the daily initiation of contact by Beall. He also stated that he felt bad ending the conversations because Beall had cancer and the student believed he was Beall’s “only friend.”

The conversations occurred through Snapchat, text messages, and over PlayStation. Beall admitted to communicating with the student over various platforms and discussing a wide range of topics, including exchanging photos. However, he claimed not to remember any messages with sexual overtones.

Detectives found GIFs, emojis with hearts, and love references on Beall’s phone that he had sent to the victim. They also noted that the conversations often displayed a “one-sidedness,” where Beall would send multiple messages, the student would delay responding, and when the student did reply, it was often with a single word.

Beall appeared to get upset during text conversations if the victim didn’t reply promptly or show interest in playing video games.

The district immediately placed Beall on administrative leave, and he was later arrested and charged with transmission of harmful material to a minor and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. His bond was set at $5,000.

While no additional victims have been identified, the investigation is ongoing.

This is a serious case of a teacher abusing his position of trust to prey on a young student. We applaud the sheriff’s office for their swift action in arresting Beall and for their ongoing investigation. We hope that this case will serve as a warning to other predators that they will be held accountable for their actions.
